Mentoring & Support
Our mentoring scheme builds confidence and benefits experienced gardeners too.
We recognise that putting yourself out there, on a website, and becoming self-employed can be scary, so we are piloting a new mentoring & coaching programme.
If there are ‘Weeder Mentors’ local to you, you can work voluntarily alongside them for a taster session and have some ongoing, local, moral support while you begin your new gardening career. Please contact us for an introduction.
We run a regular on-line talk with Q&A for non-members. We also are available for 1 – 1 Zoom support and coaching sessions for full members.
If you are an experienced gardener and are happy to become a ‘Mentor Weeder’ please add your profile and we will upgrade you to full membership for free. Plus, if you have a garden you have outgrown, you may want to pass it onto your mentee to free up your own portfolio.

It is important to note that if you invoice a client to pay a mentee, rather than them working voluntarily, you are required, by law, to have employee liability insurance. For this reason we recommend that you offer them ‘on the job’ practical support for no more than a day and there-after, if you both work on the same garden, you work and charge as separate entities.
Furthermore, if you are working with a total newbie your client may be alert to the fact that you are doing more ‘show and tell’ than actual graft so the voluntary efforts of your mentee will go some way to counter-balance this.
We require you have have a public liability insurance certificate as minimum before you sign up as a mentor.
Please contact us for more advice and support as a mentor or a mentee.
