FAQ for Garden Owners

Please see if your questions are answered below. If you have any other queries, please get in touch.

How much Weeders charge will depend on the demand in their area, their knowledge, tools and the type of work they are able to carry out.

For example: If you are looking for some simple weeding or, if you are looking for a Weeder, for your parent, who knows every plant in their garden and how to care for them and are willing to impart their knowledge for physical help and companionship, then a Newbie Weeder may be grateful for the learning in return for a small hourly rate of £15 – £18.

Once a Weeder gleans more knowledge, skills and equipment then you can expect them to charge £25 an hour or more. A trained horticulturalist can charge upwards of £35 an hour.

We also ask for feedback reviews about the Weeders so that you can see how other customers value them and their popularity.

After a Weeder has carried out a session for you, they will send you a connection request and send out an invoice via the website.

Please pay them directly via bank transfer.

After the invoice has been submitted you will be asked to rate them and give feedback.

Reviews are really important in building  Weeders’ reputations within the local community as well as supporting them in their learning and development.

WeWeed is a brand-new platform and it will take us time to get the word out and recruit more budding gardeners to each area in the UK.

If there is no-one available in your area, please let us know and we will do all we can to recruit Weeders near you and to notify you when we have been successful.

It’s not mandatory to have Public Liability Insurance but for peace of mind we would strongly recommend that you employ Weeders that do have this protection, especially if you expect them to use machinery or dig deeper than using a hand fork.

Their documentation will not be accessible to download from their profiles but you may request them to email you a copy of their certificate of insurance, if their profile says they have one.

If you are looking for a Weeder on behalf of someone who is vulnerable, you may consider someone with a DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check.

This enables employers to check the criminal records of current and potential employees in order to ascertain whether or not they are suitable to work with vulnerable adults and children.

If the Weeder already has a ‘Standard Check’ it will show on their profile and you can ask  them to email you the certification.

If they do not have one you could ask them to apply for one through us.

There is a cost involved with this process which the Weeder may ask you to cover. Please note also, that the time it takes to process these checks can take months and is out of the control of either the Weeders or us.

We ask garden owners to leave reviews to encourage Weeders to work hard to get positive feedback. It also helps us to monitor standards and enables garden owners to find the right Weeder for them.

If a review is less than 5 stars but is fair, and objectively written (and so useful to the development of the Weeder) then we will accept it. If it is unnecessarily, hurtful, rude, sarcastic, or deemed offensive we would remove it and may ask you what went wrong.

We understand that sometimes expectations aren’t met but we would rather a misunderstanding was resolved privately than punishment delivered by way of a hurtful and damaging public review.

If something has gone seriously wrong, then please get in touch and we will see if we can mediate but, as Weeders are self-employed, we can only make suggestions and are unable to get involved in litigation or financial disputes.
